This car has an incredible history. It was sold new in Belgium to Mrs. Lechien, who kept the car till 1981, when she moved to the South of France. The car was then sold to Mr. Donald Newman, an American citizen, who was working in Brussels at that time. When returning to the US, Mr. Newman took the car with him and kept it till 2010. During all those years Mr. Newman pampered the car to a point that the car was called his “Baby”. The entire history of the car is documented in 2 binders. You will find the original Belgian “Certificat de garantie”, the invoice from GXL autos selling the car to Mr. Newman for 150.000 Belgian Francs, Belgian car license, all maintenance invoices, original “German Zertifikat”, different Concours rewards where the 230SL participated and of course its original owners manual and original sales brochure. Very rare, is the fact that the car comes with its original service booklet, with the service track from new till 1983. The car is fitted with the original Becker radio and has all its original extra set of keys. The car is in great “original” shape and does need nothing. It drives smoothly and has a very nice original color combination. This car is a piece of history really worth seeing.
